Johannes has been working as a lawyer in Alicante since 2011, specializing in EU trademark and design law. He has handled all kinds of proceedings before EUIPO and has also represented several clients before the General Court in Luxembourg in EU trademark and design disputes. His experience includes protection and enforcement strategies, in particular relating to non-traditional trademarks, as well as extensive multinational trademark portfolio management. Johannes has experience in advising clients from various jurisdictions and industry sectors with particular expertise in the telecommunication, food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and toy industries.
Johannes holds a doctorate in law from the University of Cologne (Germany) as well as an LL.M. (adv.) in Public International Law from Leiden University (The Netherlands). During his legal clerkship he worked at German courts and law firms, at the German Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, as well as at an international law firm in Alicante that he later joined as a lawyer. In the summer of 2013 he gained in-house experience working as a secondee at one of Europe’s largest telecommunication providers.
He is member of the INTA Non-Traditional Marks Committee and the Marques European Trade Mark Law and Practice Team. Apart from his native German, Johannes speaks English and Spanish and has a basic knowledge of French and Italian.
When he is not working or playing with his small sons, Johannes likes to travel, cook and enjoy all kinds of sports at the local beaches.
